Burns Night

On saturday Stefan and Elinborg cooked Burns dinner for a bunch of us. However, it turns out that everyone had worked out in advance that it was my birthday (my CV is online ... grr) and so they surprised me with cake. Which was lovely. We also watched the welsh film 101 Rekjavik, which was a fine thing: quite funny and also entertainingly misanthropic, at least until the end. Here's one photo, and there's another on flickr (photos link at the right).

Thanks to everyone!

It is Robert Burns. In Scotland, January 25th is Burns Night and there's a traditional supper of haggis, neeps and tatties (turnips and potatoes). All because they love him so much. There's a whole format, but on this occasion it only went as far as getting Richard to read Burns' `to a haggis'. Which he does very well.

Happy belated birthday Richard - sorry we could not come. Has David and co. given you your birthday spankings yet? If not run and hide....NOW

Just let 'em try it. Some people tried to give me the birthday bumps once. They failed.

Happy birthday!

I now have an image in my mind of you fighting off tens of people trying to give you bumps in Kill Bill style. Were they all wearing black suits and Kato masks?
